Preconception care is about preparing the soil for you to have a healthy pregnancy, birth
and postpartum recovery, this can happen years before conception.

Fertility should be a natural state of being throughout life not just when preparing for pregnancy.

The foundation of this as women is having a healthy menstrual cycle that is optimum with healthy blood, no pain or clots. For many people living in the modern world, stress causes the body to be out of balance.

“When the soil is well prepared, the harvest will be bountiful”.

- chinese proverb

The womb's lining and environment needs to be prepared to be fully receptive to receiving and growing a baby, with optimal blood flow to the area for a full nourished lining and a warm environment.

how chinese medicine views fertility

The heart of Chinese medicine is a deep understanding of balance, harmony and the natural flow of energy in the body.

In female gynecology fertility is closely interlinked with the Kidney, Liver and Spleen organ systems. TCM sees each woman as unique and the herbal formula is tailored and chosen specially for each individual to address the imbalances that are present in these organ systems.

This ancient system offers a more balanced and holistic approach to addressing the root causes of these issues and supports women on their journey to conceive.

Just like a gardener would prepare the soil for planting, Chinese medicine views fertility with a similar lens.

In each herbal formula there is a combination of 10-20 herbs, this is different to western medicine where one pill treats one symptom. The herbal formula is blended in accordance with the TCM diagnosis that will be taken into account after the consultation.

The herbal formula acts on many different organ systems bringing balance.

Traditional Chinese Medicine can help by addressing:

how TCM can support your fertility...

Conditions like endometriosis, fibroids, adenomyosis and painful periods can create blockages in the flow of blood and Qi. Blood moving herbs are used to promote circulation and remove stagnation creating an optimal environment for implantation and conception.

BLOOD STAGNATION

The mind-body connection is vital for fertility. Stress is seen as Qi Stagnation, this is one of the most common causes of infertility, the Liver regulates the free flow of emotions in the body, when this flow is disrupted through stress the Qi gets stuck. The Liver channel goes through the pelvis and the external genitals, if the Qi is obstructed especially at ovulation time, it can hinder the release of an egg. PMS, sore breasts, irritability and bloating for all signs of Qi stagnation. Herbs are used to reduce stress, calm the liver and promote emotional wellbeing.

The uterus must be in an optimal condition to support
pregnancy with a healthy flow of blood and no clots. As women are dominated by
blood, blood nourishing herbs like Dong Gui (Angelica sinensis) and white peony (Bai Shao) are used to improve the tone of uterine muscles, improve circulation
and to support implantation.

IMPROVE UTERINE HEALTH

Chinese herbs can enhance ovarian function and regulate
ovulation by addressing anovulation or regulating irregular cycles. Many women
when coming off the pill see a disruption to their menstrual cycles or sometimes the menstrual cycle doesn’t come back. Chinese medicine can clear pathways and blockages to bring back a regular menstrual cycle..

Energetic and spiritual preparation for fertility:
Embracing embodiment and femininity

In addition to supporting the physical body, fertility is deeply influenced by emotional and spiritual wellbeing. The journey to fertility requires being stripped back to the basics and acknowledging the deep rhythms of our body and feminine cycle.

There is a space of doing in the follicular phase and there is a place of pulling back and restoring in our luteal phase.

We will focus on female embodiment practices to help women connect back to their intuition and innate fertility wisdom, allowing for greater alignment of their bodies' cycles.

Fertility is not just a biological process of the egg and sperm meeting but it is a deeply spiritual one where you are calling down a soul to your womb. Cultivating an open heart, releasing fears and cultivating a deep belief in your body's ability to conceive are all things to integrate on your journey.

On the fertility journey many women take on the role of the masculine where they try to control every aspect in their and their partner's life. In Chinese medicine balance is key, women need to balance these feminine and masculine qualities in themselves. Embody receptivity, creativity and intuition while also using strategic focus and determination - working on both energies enables women to feel more grounded and aligned in their fertility goals.

Fertility as a spiritual journey

Chinese herbal medicine in combination with dietary and feminine embodiment practices offers a comprehensive and personalised approach to fertility.

Whether you have been on the conception journey for a long time, experiencing irregular cycles or looking to
support your reproductive health before conception. Chinese herbs provide a natural and effective way to enhance your fertility journey.

Through working together a customised herbal formula and treatment plan are made for you and your specific needs that supports your body's natural rhythms, enhances your energy, and strengthens your reproductive health, offering you the best foundation for starting your family and journey into motherhood.

BBT charts, bloods results and any other tests that have been carried out via the NHS or privately are sent over before your appointment for review.

Your bloods are analysed through a Chinese and western medicine perspective.
